Abstract

Traditionally, the product of palm oil mill is crude palm oil (CPO). In addition to produce CPO, palm oil mill also produce large amounts of waste. One type of solid waste generated by the palm oil mill is empty fruit bunches (EFB). EFB production will increase continuesly as human population increase and industrialization process. EFB treatment based on the principles of green supply chain is indispensable for preserving the environment. This study assumes that the selection process of EFB utilization is a decision-making process. Yet, the EFB utilization is a complex issue considering that it involves a number of alternatives and criteria. Due to the utilization of waste oil palm mill is an important issue for the palm oil industry, therefore, then the decision-making process would be difficult if it just rely on intuition. Accordingly, the decision-making process need to be conducted using a certain process. The study found that the palm oil industry have seven alternatives concerning EFB utilization. By using AHP, it was identified that the use EFB to be direct fuels is the best alternative for the palm oil industry.
