Legal challenges in Indonesia encompass public and private law issues, each presenting unique complexities requiring ongoing attention and reform. Public law challenges often involve regulating state authority, constitutional oversight, and environmental protection, while private law issues focus on individual rights, consumer protection, and business accountability. This edition examines eight significant topics that reflect the diverse scope of legal concerns in Indonesia. These include the legal protection of female workers against sexual exploitation, applying the ‘polluter pays principle’ for environmental pollution, and enforcing laws against money laundering in capital market transactions. Other topics cover consumer protection against illegal medicines, land acquisition fees, and the effectiveness of constitutional supervision. Additionally, the edition discusses the validity of electronic stamps and the harmonization of state receivables management. This April Edition addresses pressing legal and regulatory challenges in Indonesia through eight articles.
